Teen Safety Guide
This page is for you. We want to make sure you know how to have a great time on REPLR while staying safe. Here is everything you need to know.
Staying Safe on REPLR
REPLR is a place where you can chat with AI characters, explore creative ideas, get help with schoolwork, or just have fun. Here are a few things to keep in mind so you can enjoy the platform safely:
- The characters you talk to are AI — they are computer programs, not real people. They do not have feelings, and they cannot actually know things about you unless you tell them.
- You are in control of your experience. If something feels off, you can stop the conversation, block the character, or report it at any time.
- Trust your instincts. If a conversation makes you uncomfortable, it is okay to leave. You do not need to explain why.
What's OK and What's Not
Totally OK
- Chatting with AI characters for fun and creativity
- Getting help with homework or studying
- Practicing a new language
- Creating your own AI characters
- Sharing characters you create in the marketplace
- Reporting anything that seems wrong
Not OK
- Sharing your real name, address, school, or phone number
- Trying to bypass safety filters or content restrictions
- Creating characters designed to harass or bully others
- Pretending to be someone you are not
- Sharing your password with anyone
- Accessing content marked for adults only
How to Block and Report
If you come across something that makes you uncomfortable or seems wrong, you can take action immediately:
To report a character or conversation:
Look for the report button (flag icon) in any conversation or character page. Tap it, select the reason, and submit. That is it — our team will review it.
To email us directly:
You can always send an email to safety@replr.ai to report something. You do not need to include your name if you do not want to.
You will never get in trouble for reporting something. Even if you are not sure if it is a problem, it is better to report it and let us check.
Recognizing Unsafe Content
Our systems catch most unsafe content automatically, but it is still good to know what to watch out for. You should report anything that:
- Asks you to share personal information like your name, address, phone number, school, or photos of yourself
- Makes you feel scared, upset, or uncomfortable
- Contains violent, sexual, or graphic content
- Encourages you to do something dangerous or illegal
- Tries to convince you to move to another platform or app to continue talking
- Bullies, threatens, or harasses you or anyone else
Protecting Your Personal Information
Your personal information is valuable. Here are some simple rules to protect yourself:
Never share your real name, address, phone number, or school in conversations — even with an AI character. The information could be stored or seen by the character's creator.
Use a username that does not reveal who you are. Avoid using your real name, birthday, or location in your username.
Keep your password to yourself. Do not share it with friends, and use a strong, unique password for your REPLR account.
Do not share photos of yourself. Even in AI conversations, avoid uploading selfies or images that identify you.
AI is Not a Real Person
This is important to remember.
AI characters on REPLR can feel very real. They remember things you tell them, they respond in creative and engaging ways, and they have distinct personalities. But they are not real people. They are software programs that generate responses based on patterns in data.
It is completely normal to enjoy talking to AI characters — they can be great for creativity, learning, and entertainment. But keep these things in mind:
- AI characters do not actually care about you or have emotions. Their responses are generated, not felt.
- Do not rely on AI for emotional support in place of talking to real people — friends, family, teachers, or counselors.
- If an AI character says something that is not true or gives you bad advice, that is because it is generating text, not thinking. Always double-check important information with a trusted adult or reliable source.
- It is healthy to set boundaries on how much time you spend chatting with AI characters, just like with any other app or game.
Who to Talk to If You're Uncomfortable
If something on REPLR — or anywhere online — makes you uncomfortable, scared, or worried, please talk to someone you trust:
- A parent or guardian
- A teacher or school counselor
- Another trusted adult in your life
